Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actress. She also sings. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to numerous racial slurs that made her feel like an unwanted person. In the Broadway first production of Spamalot, she played the Lady of The Lake and was awarded the Tony Award as well as high praise from critics. In the year following, she joined the ABC show Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. A singer by profession and producer, she's produced a single as well as an extended piece. She's also an activist who works hard to protect LGBT rights.
